We are pleased to offer you a relaxing, exciting and fun painting course during your stay in Tuscany in the studio of artist Gordon Breckenridge in San Gimignano. All participants, with or without experience, will be able to learn both the techniques of drawing or color and much more thanks to painting from life by a well-known local Canadian artist with more than 40 years of painting experience “En plen air” in Tuscany.

You can choose one of the following two courses:

Basic drawing course: The drawing course allows you to learn the essential elements for the realization of a drawing giving the participant the necessary notions to create realistic drawings using pencil, charcoal, colored pastels and many other artistic materials. Through simple shapes it will be possible to learn the basics of the perspective of an object in space in relation to one’s point of view as well as the realization of lights and shadows through the technique of cross-hatching shading.

Basic course on color (Watercolor): The basic course on color takes up Steiner’s philosophy using watercolor colors. The course will be a journey on the concept of color perception by the eye, developing the idea that color has an important impact on the psychological and emotional state of the human being. Initially, the processing of color will be intuitive and empirical, then trying to find a scientific way to explain its manifestations and effects. Once you have mastered and understood color, the course moves on to the world dedicated to watercolor painting.

Gordon was born in Canada in 1948, at the age of 23 he decided to follow his talent and moved to Florence where he graduated from the academy  “di Belle Arti”. He studies drawing and charcoal painting with the renowned teacher Nerina Simi in the school founded by his father, who had studied under Gerome in Paris in the 1870s. These 9 years of classical training laid the foundation on which Gordon gradually developed his own unique and personal style.

His works have been exhibited in different parts of Italy, in Switzerland, in England, in Canada at MacMillan and Perrin Gallery (Vancouver), in California and in New Mexico. He has received numerous awards and his paintings of him are found in over 500 private collections around the world, earning international recognition and appreciation.

The basic course lasts 3 hours with the possibility of switching to an intensive 9 hours course to be divided into 3 afternoons. (Min. 1 – max. 4 people).
The material is included in the course.

Individual course price for drawing or color:
Basic course: 3 hours 150 euros per person; Intensive course: 9 hours 500 euros per person.

Course price for 2 to 4 people:
Basic course: 3 hours 120 euros per person; Intensive course: 9 hours 330 euros per person.

Both individual and group courses are held privately.
